Against it, the classification depends on an experimental label-retention threshold, and lineage relationships before and after stress remain incompletely resolved.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A transient state rather than a stable compartment:<\/strong> Heterogeneous cell-cycle behavior supports the alternative that BiotinHi cells represent a transient state produced by the timing or intensity of inflammatory exposure. It is weakened by the consistent metabolic and surface-marker features and preserved function, but lineage tracing will be required to distinguish stable identity from reversible state.<\/p>\n<h4>Signal Extraction<\/h4>\n<p>Verified facts: peer-reviewed online publication; natural murine malaria model; NHS-ester biotin tracing; resilient BiotinHi HSCs retained function while expressing interferon-response programs; analogous proliferation patterns followed LPS and poly(I:C). Missing facts: marker conservation and frequency in humans, durability, niche dependence, causal regulators and consequences for malignant or pre-malignant clones.
