InSilens, a product of Noetera, Inc., a Delaware corporation, helps investors, business development teams, and life-sciences organizations track biotech deals, trials, and regulatory activity. Doing that well means handling a fair amount of personal information \u2014 yours, and sometimes information about people who show up in the industry news we cover. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.<\/p>\n

In this policy, \u201cInSilens,\u201d \u201cwe,\u201d \u201cus,\u201d and \u201cour\u201d mean Noetera, Inc., and \u201cServices\u201d means the InSilens website, your account, our newsletters and reports, and anything else that links to this policy. By using InSilens, you’re agreeing to the practices described here.<\/p>\n

1. What This Policy Covers<\/h2>\n

This policy applies to insilens.com, your InSilens account, our newsletters and alerts, and any contact, demo, or support form you fill out with us.<\/p>\n

It doesn’t apply to information we process on behalf of an enterprise customer under a separate agreement \u2014 in that case, that agreement and the customer’s own privacy notice govern. And it doesn’t apply to third-party sites we link to; check their policies before sharing anything with them.<\/p>\n

2. Information We Collect<\/h2>\n

Account and registration<\/strong><\/p>\n

Name, work email, company, job title, country, login and account-security information, subscription status, and your content preferences.<\/p>\n

Contact and support<\/strong><\/p>\n

Whatever you share when you reach out, request a demo, or fill out a form \u2014 plus your name, email, company, and phone number if you give it.<\/p>\n

Newsletter and marketing<\/strong><\/p>\n

Name, email, company, role, your communication preferences, records of what you’ve opted into, and email open\/click activity, so we know what’s actually useful to send.<\/p>\n

Payment and subscription<\/strong><\/p>\n

Billing name and contact details, your plan, and your purchase and renewal history. Our payment processor handles your card details directly \u2014 we don’t store full card numbers.<\/p>\n

Collected automatically<\/strong><\/p>\n

IP address and approximate location, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring source, and session and security logs \u2014 mostly through cookies (more in Section 6).<\/p>\n

Platform activity<\/strong><\/p>\n

Searches, saved items, report downloads, dashboard settings \u2014 basically how you use the product, so we can make it better.<\/p>\n

Professional information about people in our content<\/strong><\/p>\n

Part of building biotech intelligence means processing the names, titles, employers, and professional activity of people involved in publicly reported developments \u2014 financings, trials, regulatory decisions \u2014 drawn from public filings, company announcements, and licensed news sources. This is about describing public industry events accurately, not building profiles on private individuals.<\/p>\n

From other sources<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sometimes we get information about you from your employer, if they manage your subscription, from event or webinar organizers, or from public and licensed professional sources.<\/p>\n

3. Information We Don’t Want You to Send Us<\/h2>\n

InSilens is a professional intelligence product, not a healthcare system. Please don’t submit patient records, protected health information, genetic or genomic data, clinical-trial participant details, government ID numbers, or financial account credentials through the Services. We’re not built to receive them, and unless we’ve signed a separate written agreement saying otherwise, we’re not acting as a healthcare provider, health plan, or HIPAA business associate.<\/p>\n

4. How We Use Information<\/h2>\n

Running the product<\/strong><\/p>\n

Creating and managing accounts, authenticating logins, administering subscriptions, delivering newsletters and reports, providing support.<\/p>\n

Improving it<\/strong><\/p>\n

Understanding usage, fixing problems, testing features, and general product development.<\/p>\n

Communicating with you<\/strong><\/p>\n

Responding to you, sending account, billing, and security notices, and \u2014 where you’ve allowed it \u2014 product or content marketing, with an easy way to opt out.<\/p>\n

Building biotech intelligence<\/strong><\/p>\n

Researching and organizing publicly reported scientific, clinical, regulatory, and financing developments; identifying companies, executives, and researchers in their professional capacities; preparing the reports, profiles, and signal content that make up the product itself.<\/p>\n

Keeping things secure<\/strong><\/p>\n

Protecting accounts and systems, catching misuse or scraping, and enforcing our Terms and Conditions.<\/p>\n

Legal and business needs<\/strong><\/p>\n

Complying with the law, keeping records we’re required to keep, and \u2014 if it ever comes up \u2014 supporting a financing, acquisition, or sale of the business.<\/p>\n

5. Legal Bases for Processing<\/h2>\n

If you’re in the EU, UK, or another place that requires us to name a legal basis for processing personal information, here’s roughly how we’d categorize what we do: performing our contract with you (running your account and subscription); our legitimate interests (operating and improving InSilens, producing our intelligence content, keeping things secure \u2014 weighed against your rights); your consent (for optional cookies or certain marketing, which you can withdraw at any time); and our legal obligations (tax, accounting, and regulatory compliance).<\/p>\n

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies<\/h2>\n

We use cookies and similar tools for a few different reasons:<\/p>\n

  • strictly necessary cookies keep you logged in, keep your account secure, and remember your privacy choices;<\/li>\n
  • preference cookies remember settings like language or display options;<\/li>\n
  • analytics cookies help us understand which pages and features actually get used;<\/li>\n
  • marketing cookies, if we use them, help measure whether any advertising we run is working.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Where the law requires it, we’ll ask for your consent before turning on anything beyond the strictly necessary category, through a cookie banner or preference center. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, though turning some off may make parts of the platform feel less smooth.<\/p>\n

    7. Who We Share Information With<\/h2>\n

    We don’t sell your personal information. We do share it, in limited ways, with:<\/p>\n

    • service providers who host the platform, process payments, send our emails, and help us understand usage \u2014 acting only on our instructions and only for those purposes;<\/li>\n
    • your employer or organization, if they manage or pay for your subscription \u2014 typically just your name, email, account status, and usage in a form appropriate for administering that subscription;<\/li>\n
    • professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, when needed;<\/li>\n
    • regulators, courts, or law enforcement, if we’re legally required to;<\/li>\n
    • a buyer or successor, if Noetera, Inc. is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets;<\/li>\n
    • anyone else you specifically direct us to share it with.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      8. Sale, Sharing, and Targeted Advertising<\/h2>\n

      Noetera doesn’t sell personal information for money, and as of the date of this policy, we don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising either. Some state privacy laws define \u201csale\u201d and \u201csharing\u201d broadly enough to cover things companies don’t usually think of as selling \u2014 if that ever applies to something we do, or we start using advertising technology that falls under those definitions, we’ll update this policy and put the required opt-out in place.<\/p>\n

      9. Aggregated and De-Identified Information<\/h2>\n

      We may also create aggregated or de-identified information that can’t reasonably be tied back to you, and use it for things like analytics, benchmarking, or product planning. We won’t try to re-identify it.<\/p>\n

      10. Artificial Intelligence and Automated Technology<\/h2>\n

      Some InSilens features use AI, machine learning, or similar automated tools \u2014 for example, to help categorize companies and assets, summarize developments, or surface signals. As described in our Terms and Conditions, these outputs may involve human, editorial, or quality-control review, and we don’t use your account information to make fully automated decisions about you that would have a legal or similarly significant effect. Where we use outside vendors for AI-assisted features, we expect them to handle any personal information under the same confidentiality and security commitments as our other service providers.<\/p>\n

      11. International Data Transfers<\/h2>\n

      Noetera is based in the United States, and information we collect is generally processed here, which may have different privacy laws than wherever you’re located. Where the law requires extra safeguards for transfers \u2014 for instance, from the EU, UK, or Switzerland \u2014 we rely on mechanisms such as the Standard Contractual Clauses or the UK’s International Data Transfer Addendum.<\/p>\n

      12. How Long We Keep Information<\/h2>\n

      Retention depends on the type of information and what we need it for:<\/p>\n

        \n
      • account information: while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you return or we need it for accounting or legal reasons;<\/li>\n
      • billing and transaction records: as long as tax and accounting laws require;<\/li>\n
      • security and technical logs: generally a limited window, longer if there’s an active investigation;<\/li>\n
      • support and inquiry records: while relevant to your request and our relationship;<\/li>\n
      • marketing information: until you unsubscribe;<\/li>\n
      • professional information referenced in our published intelligence content: retained as part of our historical archive, the same way any industry news archive works.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        When we no longer need something, we delete it, anonymize it, or isolate it securely until we can.<\/p>\n

        13. Security<\/h2>\n

        We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards \u2014 access controls, encryption where appropriate, monitoring, and vendor security requirements \u2014 to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee it, but we take it seriously. Use a strong, unique password, avoid sending sensitive information over ordinary email, and let us know right away at info@noetera.com if you think your account’s been compromised.<\/p>\n

        14. Your Privacy Rights<\/h2>\n

        Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:<\/p>\n

        • find out what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy;<\/li>\n
        • correct inaccurate information;<\/li>\n
        • delete your information, subject to some exceptions;<\/li>\n
        • restrict or object to certain processing;<\/li>\n
        • receive a portable copy of information you’ve given us;<\/li>\n
        • opt out of marketing at any time;<\/li>\n
        • opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, or of targeted advertising, to the extent those apply to how we operate;<\/li>\n
        • withdraw consent, where we’re relying on it;<\/li>\n
        • appeal if we deny a request, where the law provides for that.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          These rights aren’t unlimited \u2014 we may need to keep processing some information for security, fraud prevention, recordkeeping, legal compliance, or to establish or defend a legal claim. Exercising any of these rights won’t result in you being treated differently.<\/p>\n

          15. How to Submit a Request<\/h2>\n

          Email info@noetera.com with the subject line \u201cPrivacy Rights Request,\u201d and include your name, the email on your account, your country or state, and what you’re asking for. We may need to verify your identity before acting on it \u2014 if you’re using an authorized agent, we may ask for proof of their authority too. We’ll respond within the time the law requires.<\/p>\n

          16. If Your Information Appears in Our Content<\/h2>\n

          If you’re not an InSilens user, but your name, title, or professional activity shows up in one of our articles, reports, or company profiles, and you think it’s inaccurate, outdated, or wrongly attributed, email info@noetera.com with the subject line \u201cProfessional Information Correction\u201d and tell us what page or record you mean and what should change, ideally with a source. We’ll look into it \u2014 though where the law allows, we may keep information needed for accurate reporting, research, or legal reasons even after a request like this.<\/p>\n

          17. EEA and UK Complaints<\/h2>\n

          If you’re in the EEA or UK and think we’ve mishandled your information, we’d genuinely appreciate the chance to sort it out directly first at info@noetera.com, but you’re also entitled to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority where you live or work.<\/p>\n

          18. U.S. State Privacy Disclosures<\/h2>\n

          In the past 12 months, we’ve generally collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (name, email, IP address, account details); professional information (employer, title, and public-record professional activity); internet or device activity (pages viewed, logins, searches); commercial information (subscription and billing history); and whatever you’ve submitted yourself (messages, feedback, support requests). We use these for the purposes described in Section 4, and share them only as described in Section 7. We don’t sell any of it.<\/p>\n

          19. Children’s Privacy<\/h2>\n

          InSilens is built for professional and business use by adults. Consistent with our Terms and Conditions, we don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, and if we learn that we have, we’ll delete it.<\/p>\n

          20. Third-Party Links and Social Features<\/h2>\n

          InSilens may link to third-party sites, regulatory databases, clinical-trial registries, or social platforms, and may include social sharing buttons or embedded content. We don’t control those third parties, and this policy doesn’t cover their practices \u2014 check their own privacy policies before sharing anything with them.<\/p>\n

          21. Changes to This Policy<\/h2>\n

          We’ll update the \u201cLast Updated\u201d date whenever we revise this policy. If a change is significant \u2014 say, a new way we use your information \u2014 we’ll let you know by email or through a notice on the site before it takes effect.<\/p>\n
